Welcome to the
European Systemic Design Lab

The European Systemic Design Lab (ESDL) was a research project and cooperation between the University of Applied Sciences (HTW) Berlin, L’École de Design Nantes Atlantique and Oslo Metropolitan University, funded by Erasmus+.

The purpose of this website is to document the three year research project, which ran from September 2023 to August 2026.

Our main goal was to explore and teach Systemic Design for complex societal and environmental changes in an international and interdisciplinary setting.

The Future of ESDL …

The European Systemic Design Lab research project ended in August 2026. However, the idea of ESDL and what it represents remains. We are already working towards creating long-term formats.

Funded by Erasmus+

Our collaboration was made possible through funding from Erasmus+, which supported our joint work in research, student workshops and professional education through a three year funding.
